Barbie Xu won the international PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) website poll to become Asia’s sexiest female vegetarian celebrity. She’s being vegetarian for about 8-9 years now. The reason why she became a vegetarian was because of her dog “Wu Mei Niang” had fallen sick, she prayed that she would get better and would be willing to eat vegetarian food for a year. Then after 1 year she couldn’t get used to eating meat again.
The voting took for over a 1 month period. Barbie was filming the drama Summer’s Bubble and deeply honoured when she found out the she’s the winner of the said title. She said, "Eating vegetarian food will lessen the burden on your body and will rigorously enforce environmental protection, I appeal to everyone that they can also enjoy the health benefits and pleasure of eating vegetarian foods".
Other international celebrities becoming vegetarians were female celebrities Natalie Portman, Kim Basinger, Ellen Degeneres, "Spiderman's" male star Tobey Maguire, "Hollow Man" male lead Kevin Bacon and a lot more.
